Made by a Christian, for Christians · Free while in beta

Steward everything God has given you.

A budgeting app you can believe in.

Connect your accounts once. Lamp & Ledger keeps an honest ledger of what comes in and what goes out, runs four payoff strategies against your real balances, and puts a date on your last payment — one that updates itself as the month unfolds.

No card required. Not ready to connect a bank? Type your debts in by hand and get the date anyway.

What you get in the first ten minutes

Your money, already sorted

Connect a bank and your last 90 days arrive, then new charges follow on their own. They land in a register that behaves like a spreadsheet you actually want to use: categories you control, rules that sort the next charge from a merchant for you, splits when one receipt was three different things, and pending charges kept apart from cleared ones.

A budget built from what you actually spent

Your spending page proposes amounts from your own history, so you are correcting numbers rather than inventing them. Income and spending are two views of one month and cannot disagree. Click any category to see the transactions behind it.

A payoff date you can argue with

Every card and loan in one table, with the balances, rates and minimums pulled from your accounts rather than typed in and left to rot. Your dashboard carries the month you finish, and marks the months a debt actually clears.

Why a Christian budgeting app?

The name is the confession. A lamp, because the light we steer by isn’t ours — “Thy word is a lamp unto my feet, and a light unto my path” (Psalm 119:105). A ledger, because attention is how a steward answers for what he’s been given.

And none of it was ours to begin with. The paycheck, the accounts, the house — Scripture calls us managers of what belongs to God, and a manager’s oldest tool is a ledger: an honest record of what came in, what went out, and what it served.

And because debt decides for you. Every dollar already owed is a dollar that cannot go where you would send it, and the generosity you are called to keeps becoming something for someday. Getting free is not about getting rich — it is about being available.

So this app will not promise you wealth, and it will not shame you about the balance you are carrying. It gives you what a steward needs: clear numbers, an honest month, and the date the burden lifts.

Four ways to pay it off, run against balances you never had to type in

Set the extra you can really send — that number saves as your goal and every projection carries it. Then push on the plan: switch strategies, reorder debts, and watch the date move, none of it committing you to anything. Here is what it says about an ordinary $21,500 across two cards, a store card and a car loan, paying $150 a month more than the minimums:

Snowball38 months$6,315Smallest balance first
Avalanche37 months$5,589Highest rate first — cheapest here
Cash-Flow39 months$7,267Frees the car loan’s $288/mo in month 25

A worked example, computed by the same engine the app uses — not a mock-up. Your numbers will differ.

What this app can and cannot do with your accounts

It can only read

We ask your bank for transactions and balances, and nothing else. There is no code in this app that could move money — no transfers, no payments, no bill pay.

We never see your password

Your bank credentials go straight to Plaid and are never sent to us. The key we do hold is encrypted before it is stored.

No ads, no offers, no data sales

We do not sell your information and we do not use it to build advertising profiles. Eventually you will pay us, which is the whole reason we do not need to.

You can leave whenever

Disconnect a bank, or delete your account and everything in it, yourself, from Settings. No email, no waiting.

Start with one bank and ten minutes

Connect an account. Your last 90 days arrive in about a minute, and so does the date. If it helps you be more faithful with what you’ve been given, that is the whole point — and if it doesn’t, delete everything on your way out.

Lamp & Ledger is free to use right now, and a plan is something you choose rather than something you are moved onto. Every plan starts with 40 days free, and you will know the date and the amount long before anything is charged. We would rather lose the sale than surprise you.
